Unlimited Series: FRESCO MOSAICS
There is value in the lines, the cracks, the imperfections, the bumps in the road, the experiences we have lived,
it has shaped us to the human beings we are today.

FRESCO MOSAICS
Old technique, contemporary vision.
In the Middle Ages, fresco painting meant applying pigment directly onto wet lime plaster, letting colour and surface fuse as the plaster dried. A modern variation uses casein paint with historical pigments on dry plaster — casein acting as a natural binder that offers more control over colour and detail once the surface has set.
Fresco is organic. Unpredictable. It resists precision. It teaches surrender.
You work into the wet lime—or onto the dry—and the result is never fully yours.
The lime sets at its own pace. What remains is what’s meant to remain. You follow its rhythm, not the other way around.
These fresco mosaics are small-scale works that bridge past and present. Each is handcrafted using lime putty, marble dust, natural binders, and self-made casein paints with organic, historically rooted pigments—a process grounded in centuries-old craftsmanship.
Measuring 25 x 25 cm and set in white floating American frames, the works can be displayed individually or in constellation — minimal or bold, intimate or expansive — curated your way.
First presented during the Open Atelier Weekend & Cultuurpal(l)et Grimbergen in May 2025.
